Tulsa Master Gardener Computer Group

Our Mission:

To make horticultural information available to our area, and to support the Oklahoma State University Tulsa County Master Gardener program.

Our Activities:

Master Gardeners are active folks. They enjoy horticulture, helping gardeners, learning, and some share an interest in computers and the multiple jobs they can accomplish. The Computer Group has artists, photographers, writers, researchers, programmers, teachers, and speakers, working in concert to produce rosters, lists, lectures, calendars, visual productions, and our web site.

Meeting monthly, the past performance, present activities, and future goals are discussed and prioritized. The Group members enjoy the socialization, learning, helping and producing.

Our Products:

To make horticultural information available to our public, information is presented as "alerts" for warnings of insects and diseases that is distributed rapidly. Seasonal material is presented, then archived till the next season. Some information is requested so often that it has permanent status. MGs review the phone call log books, then produce a section "FAQs" which means Frequently Asked Questions. Links are maintained to easily obtained fact sheets, and to visit other sources of information. Email is available to the public to contact us.

To support the MG program, online calendars and rosters are maintained. MGs make digital images, produce signs, hold educational sessions, and are available to the Master Gardeners for their needs. The MG Computer Group office has a flat scanner, slide/negative scanner, 8 in 1 card reader, zip drive, microscope with a digital camera available for all the master gardeners to use.

The Result:

Is a large cyber-technical operation as an infrastructure for our "people to people" master gardener program.
