Zebra Mallow “Zebrina”

Zebra Mallow “Zebrina”

Malvia sylvestris “Zebrina”

A long blooming plant that flowers in mid summer through fall, “Zebrina” has striking blooms that are vibrant mauve/lilac to deep purple. It attracts butterflies, honey bees as well as humming birds and it is a host plant for the Painted Lady butterfly. “Zebrina” likes full sun exposure with normal or sandy or clay soil that has neutral or alkaline pH. Moisture should be average to moist. It grows to height of 23-47 inches with spread of 18-23 inches. Its cousin is the Hollyhock with similar bold colors. It is a perennial or biennial that comes back the next year with self-seeding. The tiny seeds can be collected and planted the following season if you choose a new place to grow zebra mallow.
